“I put this mix together to showcase not only the diversity in my current sound, but to represent a selection of “Kuts” that stand out within their genre that up until now have been a sideshow in recorded material. ‘Sideshow Kuts’ are an Asian based events promotion with whom I will be touring for in Late 2013/Early 2014 in association with Funkatech, so I really enjoyed delivering something exclusive for them both! I have included FX & mixer settings for those interested as always.”

Leading Spanish DJ and Producer Juanjo Martín initial words after testing the Xone:DB2
Today I’ve had the pleasure of trying out ALLEN & HEATH (official)’s new mixer Xone (official)
B2 for the first time. It has definitely met my expectations. It has more special effects features than you can ever imagine. Allen&Heath are well known and distinguished for their unbeatable sound quality, and this time, with their new mixer, they’ve managed to work on the only improvable product aspect: the FXs.
Besides already existing other brand FX’s, the Xone:DB2 includes another whopping 20 special effects like Roller, Kickbox, Phaser, various types of Reverb, various types of Echoes and Delays. The mixing table even has another feature that has really made it for me: it allows you to mix two or more effects at the same time. For example, you can maintain a Roller special effect repeating it every 2, 4, 6, 8 up until 32 beats and you can add a Reverb, Delay, Echo or whichever effect you prefer, at the same time. It’s an absolute pleasure to have such a perfect toy. I must say, it’s definitely been a 10/10 on this product. I will let you know more about this amazing piece of equipment once I’ve had a chance to try it out more during the next few weeks…

DJ Mag, Issue 521 – May 2013 Tech Review of Xone:DB4 & Xone:DB2 Firmware V2.
Verdict:
Build Quality 9/10
Ease of Use 8/10
Features 9/10
Value for Money 8/10
Sound Quality 10/10
Overall 8.8/10
Hype “The V2 upgrades are great. I’m so relieved that Allen & Heath have retained their musical EQs and filters, despite stepping into the digital domain. The DB4 and DB2 sounds wicked, I’m using mine as the main studio soundcard! Top work”
Gripe “Packing in so many functions always means sacrificing some simplicity when it comes to using these beasts, and it’s not waterproof, so I can’t play with it in the bath!”
“You can’t treat these new Xone units merely as DJ mixers, they are DAW-friendly soundcards with great routing and FX flexibility – especially with the V2 firmware upgrades. They are equally at home as the hub of a live performance, with external synths and FX, as much as they are with the DJ who only plays vinyl and want nice-sounding EQs. Everything from the build quality to the logical and easy-to-navigate menus screams attention to detail. Allen & Heath have nailed it. The mixers are stable, have a lot of great functions, but most importantly they look great as well”
