BPM 2014 – Allen & Heath Xone offers demos, education and guest DJ sets

Mixer manufacturer, Allen & Heath, will be exhibiting the Xone Series of DJ Products at the BPM show on 13th – 15th September at the NEC in Birmingham.

Joining established industry standards like the Xone:92 and Xone:42, Allen & Heath will be showcasing the latest additions to the Xone Series, the Xone:23C DJ mixer and Xone:K1 slim line MIDI Controller. The ground breaking Xone:DB4 and Xone:DB2 digital DJ mixers and the slim line Xone:K2 professional DJ MIDI Controller will also be on display.

Allen & Heath’s stand will also feature a central DJ booth, which will host sets by some special DJ guests throughout the show, including Adam Shelton, Alex Arnout, Alex Banks, Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Deep City Soul, J-Me Griffiths performing DJ sets, routines and showcases.

Mixer manufacturer, Allen & Heath, will be exhibiting the Xone Series of DJ Products at the BPM show on 14th – 16th September at the NEC in Birmingham.

Joining established industry standards like the Xone:92, Xone:42 and Xone:4D, Allen & Heath will be showcasing the ground breaking Xone:DB4 and Xone:DB2 digital DJ mixers and the slim line Xone:K2 professional DJ MIDI Controller.

Several members of the Xone development team and product specialists from Germany and the UK will be at the show to listen to feedback and to help customers get the most out of their DJ set ups.

Allen & Heath’s stand will also feature a central DJ booth, which will host sets by some special DJ guests throughout the show, including DJ/producer/magazine publisher Mark EG, The Anxious Live, German techno DJ/producers Frank Kvitta and Gayle San plus Brighton-based James D’ley performing routines and showcases.

Allen & Heath will also be placing a key emphasis on education at the show, with a number of mini tutorials and seminars.

11.00 – 12.00 James D’ley – Watch Video

James D’ley throws every spectrum of the heavy hitting bass sound at you using the Xone:DB2 mixer; switching tempos and genres, pushing digital DJing to its fullest. He also shows how flexible the Xone:K2 controllers are for utilising cue points, triggering hot cues and adding further levels of loop control to layer and build his sound quickly for a firing performance.

13.00 – 14.00 (Seminar – Orange Learning Space) FX Configuration and Application on the Xone:DB4 by Andy Rigby-Jones

Xone Design Manager, Andy Rigby-Jones, explains the design insight behind the multi award winning and ground-breaking Xone:DB4 and provides a brief history of its development. Andy will also showcase the advanced configuration options available, demonstrating what each option does and how it influences the sound.

The new FX chain design options allow users to position key elements (EQ, Fader, etc.) in the channel signal path. Andy will highlight the three FX Modes (Send, Hybrid and Classic) and setting the FX units options for pre/post fader, EQ pre/post FX, and on switch pre/post FX to show why the Xone:DB4 is the ultimate DJ mixer for truly creative performances.

14.00 – 14.45 Marcus Hayward

Allen & Heath’s Marcus Hayward performs a house set using the Xone:DB4 mixer and Xone:K2 controller utilizing Ableton and a custom mapping. Whether it’s early or late, Marcus’s passion for music can rise to provide what the crowd wants.

15.00 – 16.00 The Anxious LIVE Show

The Anxious are Mark Anxious (AKA Mark EG and Chrissi Blackout, who have been producing under this name since 1998. Their sound is characteristically dark and uncompromising, with a musical message that many have imitated, but failed to deliver. They burst onto the techno scene with a series of punishing releases on some of the world’s top electronic labels.

Using the Xone:DB4 mixer + Xone:K2 controllers for a blistering 60 minute LIVE show courtesy of Blackout Audio there will also be two pairs of signed Xone XD2-53 headphones will be given away during the live show.

12.00 – 13.00 (Seminar – Orange Learning Space) Xone:DB4 as a Studio Production Tool by Jochen Kling - Watch Video

In this seminar, Jochen Kling will demonstrate how the Xone:DB4 mixer extends beyond DJ use, utilising the 16-channel soundcard in combination with Ableton Live 9. He’ll cover audio interface settings, audio assignment to channels I/O, MIDI control of sequencer controls and mapping, the recording of external hardware via the DB4, working with DB4 as multi effects unit – send/return and Pre/Post FX setup. This session will show you just how flexible the DB4 is for bespoke tailoring and sound manipulation.

14.30 – 15.30 Frank Kvitta

Techno DJ and producer Frank Kvitta will be performing amazing, unique and inspired antics with the Xone:DB4 mixer + Xone:K2 controller at that helm for some technical wizardry! Frank Kvittas‘ style is unmistakable. He is unique, energetic, drifty and at the same someone reaching peoples heart. A kind of journey on, which he takes his crowd with him on each of his sets.

16.00 – 17.00 Gayle San  - Watch Video

Gayle Sans career already began in the 90´s in her hometown Singapore. Leaving her native Singapore in 1988, to pursue her dj career in the UK, nobody expected such a massive success for Gayle in the music business. With her reputation of mixing skills, the dj sets spread like wildfire over the techno centres of Europe and now (based In Germany) Gayle is a major player on the international techno scene with constant world touring and has her own record label GSR (Gayle San Recordings).
